I used him almost exclusively in my band when he used to reside in the NYC area, as he always brought so much knowledge and artistry to the music. And combined with his multi-instrumentalist abilities, Chris Brown is a unique talent that's not often found.

Portland Jazz Workshop is proud to present the Ezra Weiss Sextet at Michelle's Pianos on Friday, May 22nd at 8pm.

"A bold, inspired figure in the contemporary jazz arranging scene.” -Josef Woodard, DownBeat

"Weiss is representative of a postmodern generation of young composers for the small jazz ensemble (Ryan Cohan, John Hollenbeck, Anthony Wilson are others) that is interested in going beyond the head-solos-head format to more elaborately developed forms." -Thomas Conrad, JazzTimes
