This quartet is so amazing on so many different levels...go see 'em whilst they still exist in PDX. I really think this one could go a long way in the Jazz world!

He is a uniquely talented performer and educator, and a man in whom I trust and for whom I hold great admiration.

I used him almost exclusively in my band when he used to reside in the NYC area, as he always brought so much knowledge and artistry to the music. And combined with his multi-instrumentalist abilities, Chris Brown is a unique talent that's not often found.

The Christopher Brown Quartet @ The 1905

  • The 1905 803 North Shaver Street Portland, OR, 97227 United States (map)

There's an inherent seductiveness that's found within people and structures that exude an air of timelessness. And like Jazz, when those people and structures are rooted by the best qualities of the past, a type of unapologetic swagger is conveyed that makes everyone stand back to take notice. And as such, there's currently a creative movement that's well underway on Wednesday nights at The 1905 that does an exceptional job of marrying the past with the present so as to present a vision of an artistic future that we'd all be inclined to embrace.
