This quartet is so amazing on so many different levels...go see 'em whilst they still exist in PDX. I really think this one could go a long way in the Jazz world!

I used him almost exclusively in my band when he used to reside in the NYC area, as he always brought so much knowledge and artistry to the music. And combined with his multi-instrumentalist abilities, Chris Brown is a unique talent that's not often found.

Drum Battle: Celebrating Buddy Rich @ 100 (PDX Jazz Festival)

  • Fremont Theatre 2393 Northeast Fremont Street Portland, OR, 97212 United States (map)

As part of this years PDX Jazz Festival, there will be a special program that honors the legacy of the late and great Buddy Rich. And leading this performance will be Portland drummer Alan Jones, along with his sextet. But augmenting this performance will be a drum battle between myself and two other prominent drummers (besides Alan ), in an attempt to pay tribute to the iconic and historic drum battles of yesteryear that have taken place between Buddy and many of his contemporaries. So don't miss this special one-time and one of a kind performance!
