This quartet is so amazing on so many different levels...go see 'em whilst they still exist in PDX. I really think this one could go a long way in the Jazz world!

He is a uniquely talented performer and educator, and a man in whom I trust and for whom I hold great admiration.

I used him almost exclusively in my band when he used to reside in the NYC area, as he always brought so much knowledge and artistry to the music. And combined with his multi-instrumentalist abilities, Chris Brown is a unique talent that's not often found.

"Behind the Scene" w/the Christopher Brown Quartet

  • Threshold Brewing 403 Southeast 79th Avenue Portland, OR, 97215 United States (map)

In an effort to create meaningful culture building moments within a Jazz context for high school and college aged musicians (as well as band instructors), the Christopher Brown Quartet hosts an ongoing series entitled “Behind the Scene” as a way to imbue young students with the tools needed to thrive within world-class music making environments like NYC. So if you fancy yourself a serious musician with high musical aspirations for your future, then this is an event that’s worth prioritizing, as it only happens once a month.

While this event normally happens at The 1905 on the 1st Sunday of each month, we’ll be re-locating to Threshold Brewery for this one so we can be closer to the center of the Montavilla Jazz Festival. So while this one won’t feature a workshop, and will be two hours in length as opposed to three, it will be free and an open jam session where more time can be spent performing with the members of my band!

This event is sponsored by Montavilla Jazz.
