This quartet is so amazing on so many different levels...go see 'em whilst they still exist in PDX. I really think this one could go a long way in the Jazz world!

I used him almost exclusively in my band when he used to reside in the NYC area, as he always brought so much knowledge and artistry to the music. And combined with his multi-instrumentalist abilities, Chris Brown is a unique talent that's not often found.

Days of Bowie w/the Christopher Brown Quartet + 1

  • Jack London Revue 529 SW 4th Ave Portland, OR. 97204 United States (map)

What started off as a one-off event back in 2018 to honor the memory of David Bowie with re-imagined interpretations of his music by the Christopher Brown Quartet has now become a staple annual event at the Jack London Revue in Portland. Furthermore, as Brown’s group continues to be one of the most sophisticated, dynamic, and powerful groups to emerge from Portland over the last 20 years ( both in and outside of Jazz), the quality and value of this concept for melding Bowie with Brown’s aesthetic is one that continues to exceed both the audience and band’s expectations year over year.

In this 6th installment of Bowie meets Brown, the group will be tackling Bowie’s Station to Station album with the help of Portland guitarist Chris Clark-Johnson, which will add a dynamic that’s not often seen in Brown’s performances. So given that this show typically sells out each year, you’ll want to grab tickets while you can.
