This quartet is so amazing on so many different levels...go see 'em whilst they still exist in PDX. I really think this one could go a long way in the Jazz world!

I used him almost exclusively in my band when he used to reside in the NYC area, as he always brought so much knowledge and artistry to the music. And combined with his multi-instrumentalist abilities, Chris Brown is a unique talent that's not often found.

The Ron Steen Jazz Jam Session (hosted by Christopher Brown)

  • The 1905 830 North Shaver Street Portland, OR, 97227 United States (map)

As a longstanding staple within the Portland Jazz community, drummer Ron Steen has been in the trenches of Portland’s music scene, helping to grow and sustain it over the past four decades. And part of how he has done that is to create spaces for music to occur, and for people such as myself to participate, for without Ron’s contribution it’s debatable as to if I’d be doing what I’m still doing. So on this night, I’m honored to be stepping into the shoes of such a well respected individual by hosting one of his famous Monday night Jazz jam sessions at The 1905, where the majority of the city’s best musicians can be found under one roof. So come enjoy a joyous and inspiring atmosphere at the only place qualified to lay claim to the title of Jazz Central here in the city of Roses!!!
